If any lucky garden has been well and truly found, this is it. After years of neglect, it is now the working museum of a Victorian garden.

There are the famous Jungle Gardens and Fern ravine to visit, with ponds, tree ferns, boardwalks and sub-tropical atmosphere. Near the house (not open), is the Pleasure Garden with formal gardens, charming secluded Italian Gardens, and of course the Productive Garden. This latter is perhaps the most horticulturally outstanding area.

Visit the Melon Garden and Pineapple Pit, the bothy with its display of victorinn tools, the huge working vegetable garden and greenhouses. Traditional cultivation methods and historic fruit and vegetable cultivars are used in the kitchen garden.
